Anurag Kanti who is actual visiony of INDIA redefined, and has two struggling business www.redstreetproductions.com and thought about it 20 years back within few years of our marriage will be too happy to get some focused person in INDIA Redefined who can add to IR vision as he has seen so many Intellectuals and Entrepreneurs have already added to the vision of  INDIA Redefined, who are associated with many leading organisations Their inability to work regularly with INDIA Redefined doesn't mean that they are no longer an asset for country's development.Many of them  have already shared wth us vision,passion, commitment but differ on the route being taken sometimes.Their believe in being focussed and developing organisation from bottoms up where as INDIA Redefined is into many things simultaneously and working from top to bottom.This difference between our approach is another contribution in INDIA Redefined vision.

Last year, I helped a person to start Pak Redefined who rang me up from pakistan that there are 500 pakistanis with u in India Redefined, whom i told to copy paste everything from our website, changing only one word India into Pakistan, but when you visit there blog -Pak Redefined- they have written - Inspired by India Redefined and Ranjana Kanti. I tried to find in Google last year has any Pakistani who call themselves enemy of India has written anything nice about India in these 60 years? Same thing happened in Banga desh - one Entrepreneur Naila Chaudhry- from Bangladesh member of India Redefined, a great fan of Ranjana Kanti though hundreds of times I tell everyone including her that I am just an requesting me ten times that she is sending air ticket to me to come to her country, to start Bangladesh Redefined, but I only told her to copy things from my mails. 

Visionary Anurag Kanti hadn't seen anyone or knew anyone so closely when  20 years back he thought of this vision of behavioral change and Citizen empowerment not by asking rights but by donating Individual Social Responsibility though believe me I neither have any photographs or data or evidence anywhere but Anurag always  told me when I was refusing to make this as a movement with my name or pics coming anywhere,  that you are not leader but face of common people. Movement Started in 2009, we started making Coordinators in every state,who wrote their own work profiles.Many applications came .Last year I selected  92 coordinators ( 90 percent selection was wrong as I am champion in selecting wrong people, Only work given to them was " I Care" Project ( See that in Downloads or somewhere on www.indiaredefined.org) as our target was to get more hands and more brains from common people whom till now any organization, activists social workers like you and me made beneficiary not doers. to make India a Happy Country. But 90% section were removed this year because of non performance. As only way of selection of people is by CV or their keenness and enthusiasm. But nothing remains permanent. And if you read one year story of India Redefined, I will not say that without any extra time or resources if supporters did that much also , even though we don't get every activity's photograph and there are very few resources of IT people  to update website with more pics and news.

I don't have any secratory or any office of India Redefined, only one chair and one computer in a very small office of my husband's struggling business, where half the time I only try to teach children from rural areas of UP,  assam- giving them one room kholi with some utensils, matresses, old cloths for those 3-6 months of training till the time they start earning. Earlier when before we closed down our animation studio with 22 people, I had 4 chairs and 4 comps. So everytime after going to hundreds of houses, roaming around on roads, I used to bring 25 slums, or ragpickers, 5th -6th failed, then training them in English, them basic computers , then Graphic and animations for one full year or 6 months, Even though I had to pay fees of all those 25, but after training only 5 used to become designers  animators- many of them earning 20 to 40 thousands but among those five one always multiplied this. There are no photographs of all these as none of us ever knew that this will become INDIA Redefined some day. 

There are many things written about me, many newspaper's exaggeration ,even in US magazines,some unknown TV channel interviews, photographs in even local newspaper with unknown names, will harm the movement if any single person sees it and thinks I am a celebrity.I am just a telephne operator or coordinator.When a computer illetrate like me cud become multimedia professional, I started bringing hundreds of rag pickers and 6th failed slum boys girls graphic designing and animation, myself giving their fees by earning as designer working whole night When I helped a boy called Praveen marotkar from Maharashtra village who was a construction worker boy of 16 years five years back , fell down from 8th floor -5 years back- broke legs, arms but when I brought him to my husbands small office where I used to get 4 computers and 4 chairs from 2005 to 2008 for few hours , and within those resources without any sponsers., that boy is not only teaching computers to villagers, those hundreds of villagers cleaned many other villages,where he has given few speeches in Marathi , took joining form from website, made many villagers  who don't know computer join  india redefined by downloading the form and printing it and xeroxing with his own money and cleaned so many Kachra with the help of those villagers. All printed forms he has sent to me, written in Marathi.

Then This year around 900 applications of senior IAS, DGP, Politicians and entrepreneurs from all over world came. I think only 5-6 are worth it. So rest I have deleted. Don't have resources to spread the message to right people.Only selecting among the people who send CV with some vested hidden interest, I cant judge who is right and who are wrong. 

Now I am alone again in this whole world, not having a single selection committee or Core Group and don't know who are right or wrong.I am trying my best to ask 600 youths who are sending bulk mails to remove your email. But I think now it has multiplied to many more.Still my IT head in pune has tried a way to do this. 

On 3rd Oct , this year I was on the verge of going to Jail, while giving tribute to a sweet lady whose birthday used to be 3rd oct, met me once in life in a place called Bagalkot- Karnataka where I was from 1996 to 1997 but the day I was leaving I did not have a place like my house where so many slum ladies used to bring masala packets, saree falls, other stiching things , nice home made sweets packets taught by me in clean atmosphere, and then directly going to shops or to customers from my place- as no one will give their precious sarees to slum areas or buy food from slums, this 3rd oct birthday lady gave one corner of her room for coninuing this women empowernment without even knowing me. This 3rd oct when a policeman caught me in wrong parking,  -trying to celebrate birthday of 4 beggar children , giving tribute to this lady and having only 150 rupees in my pocket, to buy the cake for those who don't know their birthday  by which I was supposed to give my son's vodafone bill- I told him to either put me in jail, or take this bribe of 150 rupees and leave me, or be the part of this birthday celebration and become the hero in front of full public - he talked to those 4-5 years old naked kids and when they and their beggar parents told him that I collected them for that only , that policeman who was going to put me in jail, saluted me broke certain laws, and offered me that he will celebrate their birthaday, i can go away to pay my son's vodafone bill. 

I started believing this must a part of Anurag Kanti's vision to make me and many like me who can be force multipliers, without any support or platform or organization or groups or NGOs . So right now I don't have a single person who is coordinator anywhere, as after removal of 92 people who were not willing to work any more, but did do for some time. 

Anurag Kanti , the visionary of INDIA redefined who is a walking Encyclopedia ,and by training is a Marine Engineer , left sailing 17 years back after he became Chief Engineer and with his college friend Jaidev Amirapu started an Animation studio and IT company, E-dutainment Unlimited www.edutainmentunlimited.com where both developed a software KRISTAL Vue which caters to Shipping Industry but now they are struggling to enter other Industries.They have  another struggling business - a Production house making Films for Social Causes, Ad films, Corporate www.redstreetproductions.com

I am Ranjana Kanti, an ordinary Indian Citizen, professionally an animator and designer, now a social activist.

All my life I have been working for various social causes, purely at an individual level. However, I do not feel I made a noticeable difference at a broader level.

This made me think. How to do something which will have a larger impact?

Everywhere we all talk of problems in India – but do little.

Part of the reason is that we think that solving these are responsibility of the government, politicians, bureaucracy, economists or NGO’s, social workers, Corporate – anyone but not ours.

We are very fond of talking of our RIGHTS but shy away from even talking about our responsibilities as a citizen of the country. Many of us do not even bother to vote and then criticize the people who are elected on vote bank politics.

This INERTIA is the root cause of many of our problems and we are partly to be blamed.

We have left governance to people who are not really our representative, policy to people who do not feel they are accountable to us, environment to NGOs who struggle without our support – the list can go on and on…

So came the idea of INDIA REDEFINED – A movement to create responsible and empowered citizens by bringing about “Behavioral Change”.

It is only when we do our duties we shall be empowered to demand our rights.  

It is by this change in behavior that we can unlock people’s potential to be empowered citizens. 

 This will redefine how we think and act as an Indian. 

 …..and that is what INDIA Redefined is about. 

 So, what is the Vision of INDIA Redefined? It is simply –

 

CREATING A HAPPY INDIA

 And how can we create a Happy India?

In my experience most of the ordinary people want to do something for the country, they just don't know how. 

The idea is to mobilize these masses and bring them together. 

How does INDIA Redefined do it?

By giving a structure to this… 'Desire to do Something'.

By creating an opportunity for them, to achieve small successes in doing something for the society

 … Something within his resources and available time

 -  be it planting trees or cutting down the electricity consumption – a simple successful activity, that would not only be beneficial at a larger scale but also provide the motivation to strive for bigger changes.

Developing this behavioral change across Indians of all strata, INDIA Redefined plans to tackle problems, leveraging the power of individual.

It is a citizen’s empowerment movement - a platform for ordinary citizens by ordinary citizens – each fulfilling his own ISR - Individual Social Responsibility.

What makes this movement unique or even different?

Well, there are many wonderful organizations, NGO, Charities which do a lot of wonderful work - But it never seems to be enough.

 Most of them work within a context or for a specific cause, that the overall positive effect …

 ... is lost in the gaps.

One of the biggest reasons is that we have not tapped efficiently into the potential of the individual.

INDIA Redefined is a platform for people from different backgrounds, different social class, having different outlooks and opinions to come together and work towards redefining India.

That is why INDIA Redefined’s vision is created by an amalgamation of different visions that ultimately leads to a HAPPY INDIA.

 It is important to understand that we are not affiliated with a single political party or motive.

But do not hesitate to work with any and every political party, business houses or NGO for the right cause. 

By bringing drops of people together on a common platform INDIA Redefined creates an ocean –

Ocean strong enough to make government, politicians, public servants not only accountable but also make each Indian an Awakened Citizen…

So where is INDIA Redefined today?

In one year time the membership has already reached more than a lakh. 

This shows that there are people out there who want to 'do something'…Make a difference.  All they need is the platform.

 The idea has not only got support of people but also some recognition 

– it was adjudged “The Best Humanitarian Initiative” in December 2009 among 250 other entries.

In this long journey of redefining India, we have taken only a few baby steps

But then again, a journey of thousand miles begins with a single step…

This idea…. Idea of a movement that is trying to tackle most, if not all, social issues and help citizens become empowered by the means of behavioral change, asks you for only one thing

 – DONATION.

Not of MONEY.

But of TIME.

That to me is an idea worth spreading…

India Redefined draws its inspiration from Gandhian Movement which was a revolution focused on independence. It was also about specific actions like non- cooperation by citizens. We are just trying to apply many Gandhiji's principles’ in this era and  in this society . Maybe in a different flavor! Maybe the context is different! Maybe it’s a different world! But the goal is the same! He also wanted India to be a better place to live in.   

The mission is to empower citizens of India by bringing about a behavioural change in the masses towards discharging their responsibilities and exercising their rights which are constitutional, societal and social.   

Anti Corruption Movement has united the Citizens &this unity has to remain to become like a pressure group forever. A few leaders, like Anna, have first built their credibility by doing their duties. And even the followers of such leaders have yet to do their duty towards country, society and community at large. Hence the moral authority of such movements does not last long and is dependent on the leader's karma. First fulfill your duties and responsibilities, then you automatically have the moral authority to demand your rights and once it is done on a unified platform like INDIA Redefined www.indiaredefined.org, nobody will be able to ignore your rights.

Ranjana Kanti is the co-founder, visionary and a grassroots worker behind INDIA Redefined which is a non-political Citizen’s Empowerment Movement. Thousands of people have come together on this common platform INDIA Redefined, irrespective of their religion, political affiliations, language, state, caste etc. She is also a co-founder of E-dutainment Unlimited, providing training in animation & graphics. Ranjana earned her bachelor’s in English from Delhi University, by training an Animator and Graphic Designer and is also a post graduate in social enterprise management from Mumbai University. She has been working for the social causes for the last two decades which includes:

• Under Ranjana’s leadership, INDIA Redefined www.indiaredefined.org the non political a citizen’s empowerment movement, is actually becoming people’s movement day by day, creating responsible, empowered citizens by bringing about “Behavioral Change” throughout the country and awakening people to take up local causes like environmental, education, health, governance etc. She has identified many people, motivated them and made them committed individuals, to work on voluntary basis with Central Advisory Committee and Working Committee of India Redefined movement, who have expertise, passion and skill in Information Technology, Writing and Communication, Events organizing, Project conceptualizing and project writing (for participatory projects), Speakers, Peace and Unity Group. In different cities she is guiding people to set up such Working Committee for India Redefined movement. She has made Coordinators in different cities and Student coordinators in many colleges.
• And motivated many ordinary citizen’s to instill a sense of citizen’s responsibility (ISR- Individual Social Responsibility) and awareness of citizen’s rights. Under her guidance students have participated in India Redefined's Youth campaign for Green, Clean, Peaceful, United India . Thousands of ordinary Indian Citizen's participated in "I Care" Project. Youth, studying in colleges, are helping to implement “EDUCATE INDIA", a dream of Ranjana. By giving a structure to those who 'Desire to do Something', by creating an opportunity for Indians to achieve small successes in doing something for the society… something within their own resources and available time – a simple successful activity, that would not only be beneficial at a larger scale but also provide the motivation to strive for bigger changes – Ranjana is motivating ordinary citizens to be the CHANGE they wish INDIA to become. “Clean Home Competition for Slums”, Flood Relief works, Tree      plantation Projects, Free Eye Check-up camp, awareness about the pollution level in RIVER, campaigns to sensitize the local people about their heritage and culture.
• Providing free training in graphics & animation to economically weak youths . On an average, every quarter 5-10 such youths were trained for free. Free seminars, lectures & workshops to increase awareness of Multimedia as a career at various organizations e.g. YMCA, Schools & Colleges. Assistance in placement of these students after successful training completion, to make them economically independent.
• Social Work for Blinds, Making audio cassettes from books which are not available in Braille. Motivating others to do the same. Selection of relevant articles, news items for Braille Press. Counseling and problem solving for visually handicapped persons. Coordinating with the Principal & Staff on behalf of visually handicapped children for admissions in normal schools and overseeing a smooth subsequent transition & integration with other normal children. Teaching and reading to visually handicapped students due to lack of books in Braille. Arranging writers for blinds for their exams.

• Providing non formal education to street children and the children of migratory construction workers. Working all alone initially developed a rapport with a group of 85 such children and their parents. Conducted basic education through games, books & activities like story telling, craft etc. in open public spaces like Stations, grounds, public garden etc. Arranged for a proper classroom from a school for social causes and involved organizations to take over the responsibility of providing teachers for structured education process. Assisted in developing syllabus and activities for these children till such time that the whole process was running smoothly. Providing guidance and helping to conduct cultural and craft activities in Underprivileged Schools. Organized numerous Folk Dances, Qawwali and Drama for these schools. Guided/ assisted students and teacher in model making, theme decoration. Assisted teachers in concept and execution of tableau of various themes. Presided as judge for various competitions in such schools.
• Free tuition for children from illiterate parents who are not able to cope up with the studies at school.
• Free computer literacy for senior citizens in E-dutainment Unlimited.
• Helped set up training and later business for economically deprived housewives in "Saree Fall Stitching", "Tailoring & Hand Embroidery", "Spice Grinding & Packaging" “sweets making”, “Snacks making, packing and supplying to local shops” etc.
• Initiated Vermi-culture projects in housing societies, including training on garbage segregation etc. Conducted seminar, programmes & campaigns on Environmental conservation, relocation of street hawkers, vegetable vendors at a designated place, extra garbage collection dumps & dustbins placed at extra location for improved cleanliness.
• Represented economically weak parents in school for fees concessions.
• Undertook awareness programs in slums regarding importance of vaccinations, cleanliness & hygiene, education etc.
• She has organized street plays to give visibility to common causes as communal harmony and lives of riot affected people, population, anti plastic, corruption.

• Women of Substance award by “Stree Shakti” in 2007.
• Have been covered as an Individual by various Newspapers, Magazines and TV channels for her works for economic empowerment of urban slum youth and INDIA Redefined.
• Have been invited to various forums like Rotary, Events, Conferences, and institutions for giving a talk on INDIA Redefined. Invited as a Chief Guest in different colleges, schools to give speeches to youth in different cities. Her talks are on these topics:
